Play With Heart Cardiac Screen/Sports Combine- Huge Success

HeartSmart sponsored Play With Heart non profit foundation held its first Youth Sports Combine/Cardiac Screen yesterday in Broomfield, Co. We did cardiac screens on 63 youth athletes ranging in age from 12-19 years old. Recent American Heart Association statistics show 26 kids die everyday in the US. 82% during games or training from hidden cardiac conditions.

Our mission is to “Screen, Save, Educate” to prevent sudden cardiac arrest in youth athletes by screening, donating AEDs to schools/teams CLOSEUP 12 LEAD and teaching coaches, staff, parents CPR and AED usage. We plan on taking this statewide. We are actually getting some national attention as the sports doctors at the Korey Stringer Institute at the University of Conneticut have contacted me about collaborating and I will be in Las Vegas later this week presenting our mission at the American Heart Association ECCU conference.
